Former champions Chase’s Academic Foundation and Santa Rosa Secondary will go head-to-head for the 12th Massy U18 Schools Football title this Saturday, May 2, after a dramatic night of semi-final action.

The stage is set for a heavyweight final at 19:00h, preceded by the third-place play-off at 17:00h between West Ruimveldt and Charlestown Secondary at the Ministry of Education Ground, Carifesta Avenue.

Chase Academic Foundation booked their spot in the showpiece event in emphatic style, dismantling Charlestown Secondary 7-0.

The contest was effectively over long before the final whistle as Shaquan David opened the floodgates in the seventh minute, setting the tone for a dominant display.

Malcolm Hendricks, Nyron Barrow, and Mark Glasgow all found the net as Chase’s clinical edge left Charlestown chasing shadows.

The task became impossible for Charlestown in the 44th minute when Malakai Gowen was shown a red card, reduced to ten men after picking up a second yellow.

Chase ruthlessly exploited the extra man in the second half, with Onasi Dunn, Jaden Christian, and a second from David putting the gloss on a flawless performance.

While Chase enjoyed a stroll, Santa Rosa Secondary had to endure a nerve-shredding battle to overcome West Ruimveldt in a match that will live long in the memory.

West Ruimveldt’s title hunt began brightly when captain Donovan Welcome struck early, but Santa Rosa fought back through Paul Thomas and Andell James. Welcome remained a constant threat, completing a heroic hat-trick to keep his side in the hunt as the game finished 3-3 following a frantic period of extra time.

With nothing to separate the sides, the drama moved to the penalty spot. In a high-stakes shootout that went to sudden death, Santa Rosa held their nerve to win 8-7, sparking wild celebrations.

The champion team is guaranteed G$300,000 for a school project, while the second- and third-place teams will receive G$200,000 and G$100,000, respectively.
