‘Fueled’ to simplify oil and gas coverage, connect Guyanese to opportunities

A new digital platform focused on Guyana’s rapidly expanding oil and gas sector was officially launched on Monday evening, with Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, describing the initiative as both timely and important.
The platform, Fueled.gy, a collaboration with News Room, is designed to deliver clear, accessible and credible coverage of Guyana’s oil, gas and extractives sector.
Delivering the feature address at the launch event held at Amici, Dr. Singh emphasized the importance of making industry information understandable to the wider population.
He noted that while the sector is generating unprecedented growth, much of its content can be difficult for ordinary citizens to interpret.
“Taking what to most people would be relatively impenetrable content and translating it… so that every single Guyanese person is able to understand what is happening in the oil and gas industry and what those developments mean for them,” he said.

Dr. Singh commended the team behind Fueled.gy, describing them as a group of young professionals—many of them women—who have already distinguished themselves in communications.
“You have an opportunity to add real value… to make complex content accessible, relatable, and meaningful,” he told the team.
He also extended congratulations on behalf of President Irfaan Ali and the Government, expressing confidence in the platform’s success.
Fueled.gy targets a broad audience, including Guyanese at home and in the diaspora, as well as investors interested in the country’s energy sector.

Content will feature interviews with key industry players, reports on oil and gas developments, business highlights, and updates on technology and innovation, along with coverage of corporate social responsibility initiatives.
As Guyana’s oil sector continues to expand, the platform is expected to play a role in helping citizens better understand the developments shaping the country’s future.
Dr. Singh also pointed to the speed at which Guyana’s oil industry has developed since production began in 2019.
From an initial output of about 120,000 barrels per day, the country is now producing close to 900,000 barrels daily. He noted that production is expected to surpass one million barrels per day in the near term and could reach more than 1.5 million barrels per day before the end of the decade.

“These are staggering numbers in relation to revenue, export earnings, and fiscal revenues,” he said.
He added that Guyana’s Natural Resource Fund has already accumulated savings equivalent to more than 100 percent of the country’s external debt, underscoring the country’s strong financial position even as production continues to expand.
International institutions, including the International Monetary Fund, continue to project Guyana as the fastest-growing economy in the hemisphere.
While highlighting the country’s economic progress, Dr. Singh stressed that growth must translate into real opportunities for citizens.

“Real economic growth… translates into economic opportunity for every single citizen,” he said, noting that increased investment has already led to more jobs and business opportunities.
He underscored the importance of having reliable sources of information that present complex issues in a clear and relatable way.
“We live in the information age… where there is an abundance of content—from the ultra credible to the completely absurd,” he said, adding that credible analysis and clear communication are essential.
