Teen fatally stabbed near bus park

Keroy Profit, a 17-year-old resident of Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, was fatally stabbed by another teenager armed with a pair of scissors on Wednesday evening near the Route 40 bus park. 

Police Headquarters said preliminary investigations revealed that Profit and another 17-year-old, both known to each other, were among a group of students near the park. 

During the incident, the 17-year-old attacker, who was reportedly armed with a pair of scissors, allegedly dealt the deceased a stab to his neck.

The injured teen was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he succumbed while receiving medical treatment. The body was escorted to the said hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

CCTV footage was viewed and extracted, and several persons were questioned.

The suspect was arrested and placed into custody.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
