TV station General Manager charged with assaulting employee

The General Manager of Little Rock Television Station (LRTVS) in Region Six has been charged with assault following an incident involving a fellow employee earlier this year.

Phillip Rose, 40, of Betsy Ground, East Canje, Berbice, appeared before Magistrate Michelle Matthias at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

It is alleged that on January 8, 2026, Rose assaulted Marisa Brutus at the television station’s premises. Rose, who was not represented by an attorney, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecution raised no objection to bail, and Magistrate Matthias granted Rose bail in the sum of $20,000.

The matter has been adjourned to June 8, 2026, for further proceedings.

According to information presented to the court, the alleged incident occurred at the workplace and was captured on video, which was later circulated on social media. The court did not hear details regarding the circumstances surrounding the allegation.
