The Guyana Amazon Warriors have assembled a formidable squad featuring a blend of regional stars, experienced internationals and emerging talent as they prepare to defend their ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL) title from July 23 to August 1 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.

Leading the Warriors’ charge will be a host of proven T20 performers, including explosive West Indies batsmen Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell and Johnson Charles.

The trio brings significant experience and firepower to a batting line-up capable of taking on any bowling attack in the competition.

The squad is further strengthened by all-rounders Romario Shepherd, Keemo Paul, Matthew Forde, and South Africa’s Dwaine Pretorius, providing the team with depth and flexibility in both batting and bowling.

In the spin department, the Warriors will rely heavily on West Indies left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie, the experience of Afghanistan off-spinner Mohammad Nabi, and former South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir, whose wealth of T20 experience has made him one of the most successful bowlers in franchise cricket worldwide.

New Zealand star Glenn Phillips adds international quality and versatility, while Pakistan batsman Muhammad Haris is expected to bring an aggressive approach at the top of the order.

Trinidad and Tobago wicketkeeper-batsman Amir Jangoo and Guyanese talent Quentin Sampson complete the squad.

As defending champions, the Guyana Amazon Warriors will enter the tournament with high expectations as they seek to retain the title on home soil.

The carefully selected squad combines power, experience and match-winning ability, giving the franchise a strong platform to challenge for back-to-back championships.

The Warriors will face a challenging group of opponents during the tournament, coming up against the Pakistan franchise Lahore Qalandars, the UAE-based Desert Vipers, Australia’s Perth Scorchers XI, and the United States representatives San Francisco Unicorns.

The line-up of competing teams promises a high standard of cricket and several intriguing matchups throughout the competition.

All matches in the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League will be played at the National Stadium, Providence, where local fans will have the opportunity to witness some of the world’s leading T20 players in action.

With a roster packed with international stars and regional standouts, the Warriors will once again be among the favourites when the tournament bowls off on July 23 as they pursue a successful defence of their GSL crown. (GSLT20)
