Police hunt lone suspect after 7-Y-O killed in Zeelugt home invasion

Police are on the hunt for a lone perpetrator who allegedly carried out the deadly attack at a Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo home on Friday morning, leaving a seven-year-old boy dead and his grandmother injured.
The dead child is Adriel Aftab Mohamed, a student of Zeelugt Primary School.
Deputy Commissioner, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, confirmed that investigators are currently pursuing the lone suspect allegedly responsible for the attack.
The incident occurred at about 04:45 hrs at Zeelugt New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo.
The News Room understands that the suspect entered the home where Adriel and his 72-year-old grandmother were alone.
The elderly woman, who reportedly suffered a stroke and was unwell, awoke and screamed after noticing the intruder. The young boy was attacked by the intruder; the grandmother was stabbed twice, including in the neck. She was rushed to a hospital where she is currently seeking medical treatment.
Police investigations are ongoing.
